Genesis Magma Racing

Genesis Magma Racing was founded as a private engineering project, which over the years evolved into an ambitious factory team in the FIA WEC. The team’s first steps were characterized by modest budgets and a lot of self-initiative, but early on it became clear that those in charge wanted more than just to be part of the grid. From a garage with only a few employees, a structure gradually grew that combined technical know-how and racing-mad passion, and which continues to form the core of the team’s identity today.

A chapter that Genesis Magma Racing likes to tell again and again concerns the origin of the logo. The stylized lava form that runs through the lettering goes back to an early sketch that allegedly was created on a napkin in a garage box one night when the team was searching for an appropriate visual expression for its aggression on track. The magma metaphor, glowing with heat, under pressure, yet controlled, became the embodiment of the driving style the team has sought to cultivate ever since: fierce in battle, but never out of control.

The team’s most successful phase to date falls into the 2017 and 2018 seasons, when Genesis Magma Racing with an established driver pairing repeatedly finished on the podium and consistently established itself in the top ranks of the WEC overall standings. These years are regarded within the team as a benchmark against which later generations of engineers and drivers had to measure themselves, and they shaped the team’s reputation as a reliable but also bold challenger to the established factory teams.

Today Genesis Magma Racing is led by team principal Marcus Hollenberg, who has guided the team through a phase of technical reorientation. At the wheel are currently drivers Lena Vantroy and Diego Salerno, who are considered an established duo and have already made headlines multiple times in the current season. Looking ahead to the 2026 season, the team is working intensively on further developing its prototype and hopes to build on the successes of earlier years when the new regulations come into effect and the cards in the WEC are reshuffled.
