The GRT Grasser Racing Team was founded by Gottfried Grasser and is based in Knittelfeld, Austria, just a few kilometres from the Red Bull Ring. After early years running a variety of cars, including a Dodge Viper and a Lamborghini Gallardo, the team secured factory backing from Lamborghini in 2015 and switched to the new Huracán GT3.
The partnership with the Italian manufacturer quickly became the defining chapter in the team’s history: in 2017, GRT won both the drivers’ and teams’ championships in the Blancpain GT Series, followed by back-to-back overall wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona in the GTD class in 2018 and 2019, plus a class win at the 12 Hours of Sebring. This makes GRT one of the most successful Lamborghini customer teams in the world.
In 2022, GRT entered the DTM with no fewer than four Lamborghini Huracán GT3 cars. Works driver Mirko Bortolotti led the championship for long stretches before finishing fourth, the team’s best DTM result to date. Further success followed: the team’s first DTM win came in 2023 through Maximilian Paul, 2024 brought two surprise victories for Luca Engstler, and in 2025 Jordan Pepper claimed a win as GRT finished as the strongest Lamborghini team of the season.
2026 brings a technical shake-up for GRT: the switch from the Huracán to the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3 marks the start of a new vehicle generation for the team. At the same time, former champion Mirko Bortolotti returns to GRT after two seasons with other teams, forming a new driver pairing alongside Maximilian Paul, who has raced for the team before.
Alongside the DTM, GRT competes in the GT World Challenge Europe and other international GT3 series, maintaining a broad motorsport programme built around the Lamborghini brand.
