Sheldon van der Linde

Sheldon van der Linde was born on September 7, 1997, in Boksburg, South Africa, and grew up in a family closely connected to motorsport, with his brother Kelvin later also pursuing a career as a racing driver. Like many of his generation, Sheldon van der Linde began his motorsport career in karting, where he gained his first racing experience and quickly established himself as ready to move up to formula and touring car series.

After his early years in karting, Sheldon van der Linde’s path led through various junior series in which he continued to develop consistently. Particularly important for him was his entry into GT3 racing and touring car series, where he contracted with renowned teams and established himself as a consistently fast and reliable driver. This path eventually brought him to the FIA WEC, where he is now counted among the established drivers.

The biggest success of Sheldon van der Linde’s career so far is winning the DTM Championship in 2022, which secured him a place among the title holders of the traditional German touring car series. This title marked a highlight of his career to date and underscored his ability to consistently deliver under the pressure of a tight championship battle. The success solidified his reputation as one of the most talented drivers of his generation and opened further doors in international motorsport, including his move to the FIA WEC.

In the 2026 season, Sheldon van der Linde continues to compete in the FIA WEC, where he wants to prove his skills in the GT3 class. With his team and teammates, he is aiming for a renewed presence at the front of the field this season, with the goal clearly focused on podium finishes and class wins if possible. The experience from his previous successes, particularly the 2022 DTM title, should help him consistently run at the front in the demanding endurance racing scene of the WEC and further build his reputation as one of the strongest GT drivers.
