Ryan Preece

Ryan Jeffrey Preece was born on October 25, 1990, in Connecticut and grew up in the heart of the North American short-track racing scene. His career began in 2007 in Midget cars when he started with the Bertrand team in the Northeastern Midget Association, finishing the season in 32nd place in the overall standings. Just a year later, he celebrated his first podium finish at Monadnock, a third-place result in his only Midget race of the season, laying the groundwork for his future in Modified racing.

Preece worked his way up methodically through American grassroots and regional series. In 2011, he became SK Modified Champion at Stafford, and that same year scored his first victory in the Whelen Modified Tour at the Made In America Whelen 300 at Martinsville. After two second-place finishes in the overall standings in 2009 and 2012, he crowned himself 2013 champion of the Whelen Modified Tour for Flamingo Motorsports with four wins from fourteen races; in 2014 he won the final two races of the season for the same team and finished runner-up again. In parallel, Preece made his Nationwide Series debut in 2013 at Loudon for Tommy Baldwin Racing, and his Cup debut there followed in 2015. In 2016, he competed full-time in Xfinity for JD Motorsports for the first time.

Preece went on to collect the biggest successes of his career across multiple NASCAR series. In 2017, he won for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series at Iowa, and in 2018 he scored again at Bristol while also securing the Dash-4-Cash bonus of $100,000. From 2019 to 2021, he established himself as a full-time driver in the Cup Series with JTG Daugherty Racing. In the Truck Series, he celebrated a victory in 2021 at Nashville in his very first start and followed up with another win at the same venue in 2022. After two seasons with Stewart-Haas Racing (2023 and 2024) in the Ford Mustang with the number 41, he garnered further attention in 2026 with his victory at the Cook Out Clash at the legendary Bowman Gray Stadium.

Since 2025, Ryan Preece has competed for RFK Racing, piloting the No. 60 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, and remains a full-time driver for the team through 2026. Riding the momentum from his Clash success at Bowman Gray, he heads into the new season looking to help RFK Racing move forward with his experience from Modified, Xfinity, Truck, and Cup racing.
