René Rast

René Rast was born on November 25, 1986 in Minden and grew up in an environment that was open to motorsport. Like many of his generation, he began his career in karting, where he early developed technical understanding and racing intelligence. These foundations would prove decisive later in his path through the junior series, where talent and consistency had to be demonstrated equally.

After karting, Rast completed the classic stops of European single-seater racing before increasingly turning his attention toward GT3 and touring car racing. His consistent rise eventually led him to the DTM, where he established himself as one of the strongest drivers of his time. From there, he expanded his portfolio to include international GT3 commitments before making the jump to the FIA World Endurance Championship, marking the next major step in his career.

Rast achieved his greatest successes in the DTM, where he secured the driver’s championship in both 2019 and 2020. These two titles underscored his exceptional status in German touring car racing and made him one of the most sought-after drivers of his generation. The consistency and precision he demonstrated in those years formed the foundation for his further international commitment and his later focus on endurance racing.

In the 2026 season, René Rast competes in the FIA WEC, where he now proves his abilities on the biggest stage of endurance motorsport. Team and teammate for the upcoming campaign are the focus of preparations, while Rast himself pursues the goal of bringing his experience from DTM and GT3 to bear advantageously in the endurance category. Expectations for him are high, after all he has repeatedly proven in the past that he can deliver his best performance under pressure.
