Marco Wittmann

Marco Wittmann was born on 24 November 1989 in Fürth and sat in a kart for the first time at the age of six. He became German junior karting champion in 2004, moved into Formula BMW Germany in 2007 and finished fifth in his debut season, before continuing in the newly merged Formula BMW Europe in 2008.

From 2009 to 2011 Wittmann competed in the Formula 3 Euro Series, finishing runner-up in both 2010 and 2011. He also completed his first DTM test outings for BMW in 2011, before earning a full-time DTM seat with team MTEK in 2013 and taking the season’s Rookie of the Year award.

In 2014 Wittmann switched within BMW’s ranks to Reinhold Motorsport and, three races before the end of the season, sealed the title at just 24 years old to become, at the time, the youngest German DTM champion ever. In 2016 he defended the title in a thrilling battle with Edoardo Mortara that went down to the final race in Hockenheim, becoming the DTM’s youngest double champion.

Wittmann has remained loyal to both the DTM and BMW ever since, and with more than 200 race starts ranks among the most experienced drivers on the grid. He has driven for Schubert Motorsport since 2024, fighting for the title all the way to the final round of 2025 before finishing fifth. In 2026 he enters his 14th DTM season, now alongside new teammate Kelvin van der Linde, with a clear target: a third title.
