Kyffin Simpson

Kyffin Simpson was born on October 9, 2004, in Bridgetown, Barbados, as the son of Caymanian businessman David Simpson. Although he was born in Barbados, he competes as a driver for the Cayman Islands: he once said he feels very connected to the people there, and it is something special to display the flag on the side of his car. His motorsport journey began in karting, where at the age of nine he won his first championship title at the Barbados Karting Association and defended it the following year. In 2019, he won two more titles in Florida at the Sunshine State Karting Challenge, in the X30 Junior and KA100 Junior classes.

After nine years in karting, Simpson made the jump into formula racing in 2020, debuting for Velocity Racing Development in the Formula 4 United States Championship. In parallel, he competed in the Formula Regional Americas Championship, which he dominated in 2021 for TJ Speed Motorsports with seven wins, two pole positions, and 13 podium finishes. Following the Road to Indy ladder: with Juncos Racing in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship, before signing as a development driver with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2022 and simultaneously moving to Indy Lights, initially with TJ Speed Motorsports, later with HMD Motorsports. In 2023, he raced for HMD Motorsports in the newly renamed Indy NXT series and finished the season with two podiums in tenth place in the overall standings.

Parallel to his formula career, Simpson built a remarkable palmarès in sports car racing. In 2022, he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in the IMSA SportsCar Championship for Gradient Racing in the Acura NSX GT3 Evo II and won the GTD class that same year alongside Mario Farnbacher and Till Bechtolsheimer at Petit Le Mans. In 2023, he switched to Tower Motorsports for a part-time IMSA program and won the LMP2 class at the 12 Hours of Sebring alongside Scott McLaughlin and John Farano. He celebrated his biggest career success in 2023 with Algarve Pro Racing: together with Alex Lynn and James Allen, he secured the overall title of the European Le Mans Series in the LMP2 category, underscored by victories such as the 4 Hours of Le Castellet and the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps as well as a class win at the 4 Hours of Dubai in the Asian Le Mans Series.

In the IndyCar Series, Simpson also starts for Chip Ganassi Racing in 2026, the team he has been closely associated with since his days as a junior driver. As a full-time driver for the traditional team, he wants to convert the experience from his titles in the Formula Regional Americas Championship and the European Le Mans Series into sustained success in the North American top championship. After years of climbing through Indy Pro 2000, Indy Lights, and Indy NXT as well as parallel successes in sports car racing, consolidating his place in the Ganassi cockpit is the focus for the young Caymanian in the new season.
