Josh Berry

Joshua William Berry was born on October 22, 1990, in the United States and grew up in the Nashville, Tennessee region, where Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway became his home track. He began karting at age eight and gained experience with the Tennessee Karting Association and, from around 2001, with the World Karting Association. In 2006, he transitioned to U.S. Legend Cars while studying at Volunteer State Community College and working as a bank employee to finance his racing career. The turning point came in 2008 when he made contact with Dale Earnhardt Jr. through the online sim-racing league DMP Online Racing, which led to a job with his team JR Motorsports in the Late-Model Stock Car scene in 2010.

At JR Motorsports, Berry matured over more than a decade into one of the most successful Late-Model Stock Car drivers in the country and ultimately became the all-time winningest driver in CARS Tour history. In parallel, he made a name for himself in NASCAR’s national series: He competed in his first Xfinity Series race at Iowa Speedway for JR Motorsports, and in 2016 made his Camping World Truck Series debut with a thirteenth-place finish at Chicagoland for Contreras Motorsports. In the following years, he continuously built his reputation in the Xfinity Series before making the leap to the NASCAR Cup Series, where he now drives the No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Wood Brothers Racing.

Berry’s greatest achievements reflect his long journey from short tracks to the top of NASCAR. In 2017, he secured the CARS Late Model Stock Tour championship, in 2019 he won the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville, the country’s most prestigious late-model race, and in 2020 he crowned himself national champion of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series with 24 season wins. In the Xfinity Series, he won at Martinsville (2021), twice at Las Vegas (2021, 2022), at Dover (2022), and at Charlotte (2022), and finished fourth in the overall standings in 2022 to reach the Championship 4 finale. In 2023, he won the NASCAR All-Star Open at North Wilkesboro, and in 2025, while driving the No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Wood Brothers Racing, he achieved his first NASCAR Cup Series victory at the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

In the 2026 season, Josh Berry starts as the full-time driver for Wood Brothers Racing and continues his Cup Series career in the No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Following his first career win in Las Vegas the previous year, the focus is now on confirming that success and consistently leading the team into the top tier of the series. For Berry, who worked his way up from the bank counter in Nashville to the top level of American stock car racing, the new season remains another important step in a remarkable rise to the top.
