Christian Rasmussen was born on June 29, 2000, in Copenhagen and discovered motorsport at the age of nine, competing in his first kart races in Denmark and promptly winning his first national kart title. After several additional Danish kart titles, he switched to formula racing in 2016 and competed in the Danish Formula 4 Championship in 2017, finishing third overall. In 2018, he headed to North America, where he raced for Jay Howard Driver Development in the F4 United States Championship and also finished third overall with five race wins.
His real breakthrough came on the North American ladder to the IndyCar Series, the so-called Road to Indy. In 2019, Rasmussen set a series record with six consecutive wins in USF2000 and finished third, before winning the title in the U.S. F2000 National Championship in 2020 with nine wins, seven pole positions, and ten podiums for Jay Howard Driver Development. In 2021, he jumped straight to the top of the Indy Pro 2000 Championship in his rookie year with seven wins. After a year with Andretti Autosport in Indy NXT in 2022 with two wins, he moved to HMD Motorsports in 2023 and claimed the championship with five wins, eight podiums, and five pole positions, his third title on three consecutive levels of the Road to Indy.
With this, Rasmussen became only the second driver in motorsport history after Kyle Kirkwood to join the exclusive group of drivers who have won all three developmental series of the official IndyCar development ladder. Parallel to his formula racing ascent, he celebrated another career highlight in sports cars in 2024: at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, he won the LMP2 class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Era Motorsport. That same year, he made his debut for Ed Carpenter Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series, initially competing on road courses and street courses as well as the Indy 500, where he finished twelfth as the top rookie. In 2025, his first IndyCar race win came in the full-time cockpit of the Chevrolet with the number 21 at the Milwaukee Mile race.
For the 2026 season, Christian Rasmussen remains as a full-time driver with Ed Carpenter Racing (ECR). Following his march through the developmental series and his first career win in Milwaukee, the stated goal is to confirm the upward trend and establish himself permanently in the top ranks of the IndyCar Series. With his experience from his Indy 500 debut and expansion of his racing experience in sports cars, the Dane brings all the prerequisites to play a central role at ECR and to fight for additional podiums and wins.
