Nicolas Baert was born on 8 August 2001 in Antwerp and is the son of Comtoyou team owner Jean-Michel Baert. He began his motorsport career in karting in 2017, before moving to the Spanish Formula 4 Championship in 2019.
In 2020 he took his first win in the European TCR Series and also competed in the FIA World Touring Car Cup. Over the following years he gathered further experience in various touring car and GT series before making the jump to the DTM in 2025.
In his 2025 DTM debut season for the family team Comtoyou Racing, Baert already showed signs of progress: he took pole position at Hockenheim and finished inside the top ten three times, though he ended the season last in the overall standings.
2026 marks Baert’s second DTM season, again with Comtoyou Racing and now with factory support from Aston Martin and Nicki Thiim as an experienced teammate. With a year’s experience of the car, the tracks and the tyres, he wants to make a clear step forward.
