Laurin Heinrich was born on March 14, 1998 in Heidelberg and grew up in the Palatinate region, where his father operated a small karting track. Even as a child, he spent more time on the circuit than in the schoolyard, and at eight years old he sat in a kart for the first time, catching the racing fever. The area around Heidelberg gave him early access to regional karting series, where he developed technical understanding and racing instinct long before an international career was even a consideration.
The move to junior formula racing followed logically: through the ADAC Formula 4 and Formula Regional, Heinrich gathered the necessary milestones to qualify for more competitive championships. In parallel, he began competing in GT3 racing, where teams valued him for his consistency over longer stints. This mix of formula experience and GT racing eventually paved the way to the FIA WEC, where he made his debut as a younger talent in an established customer team and quickly established himself as a reliable factor in the driver lineup.
Among his career’s biggest achievements to date are his class victory at the 2021 24 Hours of Spa, which he achieved in the GT3 category with a private customer team, as well as a podium finish in the LMP2 standings of the FIA WEC 2023 at the 6 Hours of Fuji, driving for a European traditional team at the time. These results garnered the attention of larger manufacturer operations and cemented his reputation as a consistent point-scorer in endurance racing.
In the 2026 season, Heinrich competes for a team in the Hypercar class of the FIA WEC, sharing the cockpit with an experienced teammate whose experience helps him refine his driving style. His stated goal for the current campaign is a solid position in the top five of the overall standings as well as a class podium at least once at one of the endurance classics. After years of steady progress, Heinrich sees the upcoming season as an opportunity to establish himself permanently in the world championship.
