James Calado

James Calado was born in 1992 in London and grew up in a British environment where motorsport played a central role from an early age. Like many of his generation, he began his career in karting, where he refined his driving skills over several years and achieved first successes in national and international competitions before making the transition to four-wheeled racing.

Calado’s path through the Formula junior series led him consistently upward. He gained experience in various Formula racing series before increasingly turning to GT racing. With his technical understanding and consistency, he proved himself for factory programs and eventually found his way into the FIA WEC, where he became a fixed part of the GT driver field and established himself over the years as a reliable and fast pilot.

Among the greatest successes of his career is the overall victory in the GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017, which he achieved in the Ferrari of the AF Corse team, a milestone that catapulted him definitively into the first rank of GT factory drivers. In the following years, Calado remained loyal to the Ferrari camp and was instrumental in numerous podium finishes and class victories in the FIA WEC as well as other international GT endurance races, which solidified his reputation as one of the most experienced GT3 pilots of his generation.

In the 2026 season, James Calado is starting again for a Ferrari factory team in the FIA WEC, integrated into a program that relies on his many years of experience with the Maranello brand. Alongside a practiced teammate, he aims to fight for class victories and podium positions again this season. The stated goal remains to continue Ferrari’s successful story in the WEC and once again compete for the top positions in a highly competitive field.
