Jakub Smiechowski

Jakub Smiechowski is from Poland, where like many drivers of his generation, he cut his teeth in karting. Early on, his talent for precise, consistent driving became apparent—a characteristic that would later become his hallmark. The transition from domestic karting to international junior series was a logical next step for him to compete with the best young drivers in Europe and hone his skills for single-seater racing and later GT and prototype campaigns.

Through the traditional junior series, Smiechowski eventually found his way into GT3 and prototype racing, where he established himself as a reliable and quick driver. The jump to the major international endurance series, including the FIA WEC, was the logical continuation of a career built on consistency and steady progress. The LMP2 class proved to be ideal territory for him to demonstrate his driving prowess and make a name for himself in the international sportscar scene.

Smiechowski achieved the greatest success of his career in 2024 when he claimed the title in the LMP2 class of the IMSA Sportscar Championship. This success underscored his ability to perform at the highest level consistently throughout an entire championship season and solidified his reputation as one of the most reliable LMP2 drivers of his generation. The title was also an important milestone on the road to further commitments in international top-tier endurance racing.

In the 2026 season, Jakub Smiechowski returns to the FIA WEC and brings the experience he gained from his IMSA title year into the World Championship. Expectations for him are correspondingly high, as he is among the drivers who have already proven they can deliver consistent results over a complete season. For the coming season, the goal is to build on the form of the past years and position himself at the front of the field both in the championship standings and in individual races.
