Cody Ware

Cody Shane Ware was born on November 7, 1995, in the USA and grew up as the son of NASCAR team owner Rick Ware in a third-generation motorsport family. From an early age, he gained experience in various disciplines, from stock cars to sports cars to open-wheel racing, and had early access to professional racing structures through his family background. This broad foundation proved valuable later when he competed simultaneously in multiple NASCAR series and in international sports car racing.

Ware began his path through the developmental series in 2014 with his debut in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Rick Ware Racing; the same season he secured Rookie of the Year honors in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. In 2015, he switched to a full program in the Camping World Truck Series with MAKE Motorsports. In the following years, he competed for teams including MBM Motorsports, B. J. McLeod Motorsports, and SS-Green Light Racing with Rick Ware Racing in the Xfinity Series, before competing part-time in the NTT IndyCar Series for Dale Coyne Racing with RWR and in sports car racing in 2021. Today, he competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Rick Ware Racing.

Ware celebrated his career’s greatest success in sports car racing: In the 2019/20 season of the Asian Le Mans Series, he won the LMP2-Am class championship with Rick Ware Racing in the Ligier JS P2 after taking the class victory at the race at The Bend Motorsport Park with co-driver Gustas Grinbergas. In the NASCAR Cup Series, he achieved his best results to date with a sixth-place finish in 2022 and a fourth-place finish in 2024, both at Daytona International Speedway. In 2024, he also finished on the podium in the LMP3 program of Rick Ware Racing with Ave Motorsports in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge at Daytona.

In the 2026 season, Cody Ware continues as a full-time driver for Rick Ware Racing and remains loyal to his father’s team, with which he has been closely connected since his early days. Behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with the number 51, after years of competing across stock cars, sports cars, and open-wheel racing, he aims to match earlier top results like his fourth-place finish at Daytona with consistency in the NASCAR Cup Series.
