Timo Glock

Timo Glock, born on 18 March 1982 in Lindenfels and a trained scaffolder, began his motorsport career in motocross in 1996 before moving through karting and German Formula BMW, which he won in consecutive years in 2000 and 2001, into international single-seater racing. After the German Formula 3 championship and the Champ Car series in the US, he crowned two seasons in GP2 with the 2007 championship title.

Glock had already contested four Formula 1 races for Jordan in 2004, and thanks to his GP2 title returned to the top flight with Toyota in 2008, staying until 2012, latterly with Virgin Racing and Marussia. From 91 Grands Prix he took three podiums; he gained unwitting fame at the 2008 season finale in Brazil, when he was passed by Lewis Hamilton on dry tyres as rain began to fall, handing Hamilton the title ahead of Felipe Massa.

After his Formula 1 career ended, Glock moved to BMW in the DTM in 2013 and stayed loyal to the brand until 2021: five race wins, 15 podiums and a fifth place overall in both 2018 and 2020. After a year in the Italian GT championship in 2022 and a three-year break from the DTM, the Switzerland-based German made his comeback in 2025 with Dörr Motorsport and McLaren, a season he himself called a “disaster”, finishing only ten of 16 races and ending up 22nd overall.

For the 2026 season the 44-year-old enters his twelfth DTM year, with new technical leadership at the team around GT3 boss Volker Strycek, and the stated aim of finally turning winter testing progress into consistent results. Alongside the cockpit, Glock has worked as a Formula 1 analyst for Sky Germany since 2021 and lives with his wife Isabell and their children Mika and Leni Malou by Lake Constance.
