Austin Edward Hill was born on April 21, 1994 in the United States and ranks among the most experienced full-time drivers in NASCAR Cup. He entered motorsport at just six years old and gained his first experience in Quarter Midgets before progressing through Bandolero and Legend Cars races into stock car racing. This grassroots, typically American driver development program shaped his driving style and laid the foundation for his later specialization in fast speedway racing.
Hill progressed through the developmental series consistently on American soil. In the K&N Pro Series East, he scored a win in 2013 despite running just five races, finished fifth in the championship standings in 2014, and took third place in 2015 with a pole position and two wins. In parallel, he made his debut in the ARCA Menards Series in 2015 and the Craftsman Truck Series in 2014, eventually gaining a foothold at Young’s Motorsports in 2018 and Hattori Racing Enterprises in 2019 with the No. 16 Toyota Tundra after stints with RBR Enterprises, Empire Racing, and his own family team Austin Hill Racing.
Hill achieved his greatest career successes in the following years: In 2020, he secured the regular season championship of the Craftsman Truck Series with Hattori Racing Enterprises before moving to the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where he was named Rookie of the Year in 2022 for Richard Childress Racing. In 2023, he claimed the title of Regular Season Champion of the Xfinity Series. Particularly noteworthy is his dominance on speedways: Between 2022 and 2024, he won the season-opening race at Daytona three consecutive years and became the first driver in Xfinity Series history with wins on all three major drafting tracks—Daytona, Talladega, and Atlanta.
In the 2026 season, Austin Hill continues as a full-time driver for Richard Childress Racing in NASCAR Cup Series, where he had previously competed part-time in the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Following his successes in the Truck and Xfinity series, the next step should be permanent establishment at the top of the premier class. His reputation as one of the field’s strongest speedway and drafting specialists makes him a serious factor for RCR, particularly on the fast ovals.
