Alex Bowman

Alexander Michael Warren Bowman was born on April 25, 1993, in Tucson, Arizona. At just seven years old in 2000, he began his motorsports career on short tracks in Arizona and California, competing in the United States Auto Club (USAC) Quarter-Midget class. By 2006, the young American had accumulated nine national championships and 165 race wins, a foundation that would shape his future in oval racing.

In 2008, Bowman crowned himself USAC Speed2 National Midget Champion and California Dirt Focus Midget Champion; a year later, he was named USAC National Midget Rookie of the Year. After breaking his collarbone in a February 2010 accident, he switched to fully-bodied stock cars later that same year at age 18. In 2011, he raced for X Team Racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, finishing sixth in the standings and earning Rookie of the Year, while simultaneously winning both of his ARCA Racing Series starts for Venturini Motorsports. In 2012, as a development driver for Penske Racing, he competed full-time in the ARCA Series for Cunningham Motorsports, winning at Salem, Winchester, Iowa, and Kansas to capture ARCA Rookie of the Year. That same year, Bowman made his Nationwide Series debut for Turner Motorsports at Chicagoland, while also making additional starts for RAB Racing.

Bowman achieved his breakthrough as a full-time driver for Hendrick Motorsports, piloting the No. 48 car. To date, he has eight wins in the NASCAR Cup Series, with his best points finish coming in 2020 when he placed sixth in the standings. He has also gained particular recognition for a NASCAR record: from 2018 through 2023, he started on the front row of the Daytona 500 six consecutive times, earning pole position in 2018, 2021, and 2023.

In the 2026 season, Bowman remains a full-time driver for Hendrick Motorsports, one of the most storied teams in the NASCAR Cup Series. After years as a consistent presence at the front of the field, his goal continues to be building on the strong foundation of his career and returning to the front of the points standings.
