Ty Dillon

Ty Reed Dillon was born on February 27, 1992, in the United States and grew up in one of the most influential families in American motorsports: His grandfather Richard Childress is the founder and owner of Richard Childress Racing, his father Mike Dillon serves as the team’s General Manager and was himself a NASCAR driver, while his older brother Austin Dillon drives the No. 3 Cup Series car for RCR. Ty Dillon began his motorsports career in karting and the Bandolero class before gradually transitioning to stock car racing.

In 2009, Dillon moved to the K&N Pro Series East, where in 2010 he scored a victory at Gresham Motorsports Park despite competing in only eight of ten possible races and finished thirteenth in the overall standings. That same year, he made his ARCA Racing Series debut and won two of his three starts. In 2011, he competed in his first full ARCA season for his grandfather’s team, RCR, recorded seven victories, and secured the championship. From there, his path led through the Truck Series and Xfinity Series to the NASCAR Cup Series, where he made his debut in 2014 and became firmly established from 2017 onward.

The greatest accomplishments of his career range from that 2011 ARCA title, which made him the series’ youngest champion at the time, to strong performances in the developmental series: In 2012, he became Truck Series Rookie of the Year and celebrated his first Truck Series victory at Atlanta; in 2013, he finished second in the overall standings behind Matt Crafton. In the Xfinity Series, he won at Indianapolis in 2014 and finished third in the championship in 2015. In the Cup Series, a third-place finish at Talladega in October 2020 marked his best individual result to date.

In the 2026 season, Ty Dillon drives as a full-time driver for Kaulig Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. After years with various mid-tier teams such as Germain Racing, Petty GMS Motorsports, and Spire Motorsports, he is seeking consistency at Kaulig and aims to regularly compete for top-10 finishes with his experience.
