Marco Sørensen

Marco Sørensen was born in Denmark and, like many successful racing drivers of his generation, found his way into motorsport through karting. His talent with high-performance vehicles became apparent early on, making the transition to junior formulas only a matter of time. His technical understanding and calm race management stood out even at this stage, laying the foundation for a career that would eventually lead him through various formula series into GT and endurance racing.

Through the classic junior formula series, Sørensen gained important experience before making the leap into GT3 racing. There he quickly established himself and proved his worth for works drives at the highest level. The logical next step took him to the FIA World Endurance Championship, where he positioned himself in the GTE class as one of the most consistent and fastest drivers in his field. The combination of qualifying speed and race reliability made him a sought-after partner for teams with championship ambitions.

Sørensen achieved his greatest career successes in the FIA WEC. In 2016, he claimed the drivers’ title in the LMGTE Pro class, a success he repeated in the 2019/20 season in the same class. Following his move to the LMGTE Am class, he achieved another championship title in 2022, establishing himself as one of the few drivers to succeed in both GTE categories of the world championship. These three WEC titles form the foundation of his reputation as one of the most experienced and successful GTE specialists in recent WEC history.

In the 2026 season, Marco Sørensen continues to compete in the FIA WEC, where he and his team are working toward the next success in the endurance championship. His wealth of experience from three world championship titles makes him a central figure in the fight for top positions at the season’s major classics, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For the upcoming races, he is relying on the proven mix of tactical cleverness and consistent performance that has already taken him to the top of the GTE standings in the past.
