Joey Logano was born on May 24, 1990 and grew up in the US state of Connecticut. At just six years old, he sat in a Quarter Midget for the first time in 1996 and celebrated his first successes shortly thereafter: in 1997 he won the Eastern Grand National Championship in the Junior Stock Car Division, in 1998 the title in the Junior Honda Division and in 1999 the Lt. Mod. Division. That same year he also secured the title with the National Bandolero Bandits before making a name for himself in 2002 as Young Lions National Champion in Legends Cars.
His path through North American junior series took Logano through the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, where he won several races, to the NASCAR Busch East Series, whose championship he won in 2007 at just 17 years old. In 2008 he competed in part-time outings for Joe Gibbs Racing and Hall of Fame Racing and became the youngest winner of the Nationwide Series at 18 years and 21 days with a victory at Kentucky Speedway. From 2009 to 2012 he drove full-time for Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 20 Toyota, became Rookie of the Year in 2009 and set the still-standing record that same year in New Hampshire as the youngest Cup Series winner at 19 years and 35 days.
Since his move to Team Penske, Logano has counted among the most defining drivers in recent NASCAR history. In 2015 he won the Daytona 500 and was recorded as the second-youngest winner of that race; that same year he also became the only driver to date to accomplish a complete sweep of all three races in the Playoff round of the top twelve. Other highlights followed, such as victories in the NASCAR All-Star Race in 2016 and 2024 as well as the Busch Light Clash in 2017 and 2022. But his three championship titles in the NASCAR Cup Series hold the greatest significance: in 2018 he prevailed in the Homestead-Miami finale, in 2022 he secured the title with a dominant performance in Phoenix, and in 2024 he crowned himself champion there once again, making him one of the very few drivers to have won three Cup titles before their 35th birthday.
Heading into the 2026 season, Joey Logano continues as a full-time driver for Team Penske in the No. 22 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. After three championships and a total of 38 Cup victories, the American continues to be regarded as one of the most dangerous title contenders in the field when the season finale comes down to racing for the series’ greatest trophy. For fans and competitors alike, it remains clear: as long as Logano is behind the wheel of the Penske Ford, he will have a say in the championship fight in 2026 as well.
