Jules Gounon was born on 31 December 1994 in Aubenas and races under both a French and an Andorran licence. The son of former racing driver Jean-Marc Gounon, he began in karting at 15 before moving to the French Formula 4 Championship in 2013, where he finished runner-up.
2017 was his breakthrough year in GT racing: driving a Callaway Competition Chevrolet Corvette, he won the ADAC GT Masters title, and the same year he claimed outright victory at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps alongside Markus Winkelhock and Christopher Haase.
Since 2018 Gounon has been a factory driver for Bentley, racing for the marque in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup and the Intercontinental GT Challenge. He made his DTM debut on the final race weekend of 2024, before a full first season in 2025 with Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter brought three podiums and ninth overall.
2026 marks Gounon’s second full DTM season, again in Winward’s Mercedes with the iconic Mann-Filter “Mamba” livery. After a first year full of new impressions, he wants to be more consistent and approach the season race by race.
