Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll, born on 29 October 1998 in Montreal as Lance Strulovitch, is the son of Canadian billionaire and current Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll and Belgian fashion designer Claire-Anne Callens, giving him Belgian as well as Canadian citizenship. He began karting as a child and joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2010 at the age of twelve.

Between 2014 and 2016, Stroll won three consecutive junior titles: Italian Formula 4 (2014), the Toyota Racing Series (2015) and, as the first Canadian to do so, the European Formula 3 Championship (2016, with 14 race wins).

He made his Formula 1 debut for Williams in 2017 at 18, and in his eighth race in Azerbaijan became the youngest driver at the time to reach the podium in his rookie season. In 2019 he moved to Racing Point, which had recently been acquired by a consortium led by his father. In 2020 he took his sole pole position to date in the rain at Istanbul, the first by a Canadian since Jacques Villeneuve in 1997, along with two podiums. Since the team’s rebrand to Aston Martin in 2021, and alongside Fernando Alonso since 2023, he has become one of the longest-serving drivers at the team his father chairs.

The 2025 season proved difficult for Stroll, including having to withdraw from qualifying at the Spanish Grand Prix due to wrist pain. In 2026 he enters his fourth season alongside Alonso at Aston Martin.
