Lando Norris

Lando Norris, born on 13 November 1999 in Bristol, grew up in nearby Glastonbury and began his motorsport career in karting at the age of eight. In 2013 he won the WSK Euro Series, and a year later became the youngest ever karting world champion, breaking Lewis Hamilton’s record. Via British Formula 4 (2015), the Toyota Racing Series and the Formula Renault Eurocup (both 2016), he won the European Formula 3 Championship in 2017 before finishing runner-up to George Russell in Formula 2 in 2018.

Norris made his Formula 1 debut for McLaren in 2019, where he still races today. He claimed his first podium at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix and went on to set a record of 15 podiums before his maiden win, finally taken at Miami in 2024. The 2024 season brought him four race wins and helped McLaren to their first Constructors’ Championship since 1998; he finished runner-up in the Drivers’ standings behind Max Verstappen.

2025 brought the crowning achievement: after trailing team-mate Oscar Piastri by as much as 34 points during the season, Norris won his first Drivers’ title in a three-way fight with Piastri and four-time champion Max Verstappen at the final race in Abu Dhabi, by a margin of just two points.

His father, Adam Norris, works as an investor; motorcycle icon Valentino Rossi has been a major role model since his childhood. Away from racing, Norris designs his own race suits as a hobby and speaks openly about mental health.
