Corey LaJoie

Corey Daniel LaJoie was born on September 25, 1991, in the USA and grew up in an environment where motorsport was practically in the blood: His father Randy LaJoie is a two-time champion of the Busch Series. As early as 1996, young Corey began karting, racing on both dirt and asphalt tracks in North Carolina and celebrating 19 victories in the process. During this time, he received the nickname “SuperShoe” from friends and competitors of his father, which has stayed with him to this day.

The path through the junior series was steep: In 2003, LaJoie switched to the INEX Bandolero Series and won twelve races there as well as the Summer Shootout Championship. In 2005, he moved up to Legends Cars before winning the title in the Aaron’s Pro Challenge Series in 2006 with ten wins from twelve races. Between 2007 and 2009, he gained further experience in the UARA-Stars Late Model Touring Series before making his NASCAR Camping World East Series debut at Thompson Speedway in 2009. In 2012, he achieved his first win at Bowman Gray Stadium in June, followed by four more. He made his Nationwide Series debut in 2013 at Homestead-Miami for Richard Petty Motorsports, and in 2014, he finally moved up to the Cup Series at the Sylvania 300 in Loudon for Randy Humphrey Racing.

LaJoie achieved his greatest career successes outside the big stage of the Cup Series. In the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (now ARCA Menards Series East), he scored five season wins in 2012 and finished second in the overall standings behind Kyle Larson. In the ARCA Menards Series, he celebrated three victories in 2013, including wins at Chicagoland and Pocono. In 2022, he added another career highlight with a win in the “Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200” at Martinsville Speedway in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. In the Cup Series itself, where he competed for teams including BK Racing, Spire Motorsports, Go Fas Racing, and Rick Ware Racing, a victory has eluded him so far; his best championship result was 25th place in the 2023 season.

For the 2026 season, Corey LaJoie is entered as a full-time driver for RFK Racing. After years with smaller and mid-tier teams, this move offers him the chance to build on his previous best performances in an established environment and possibly secure his first Cup Series win of his career. Fans and observers are curious to see whether the always down-to-earth and communicative LaJoie, who has also made a name for himself as an analyst, can take the decisive step forward in this new chapter of his career.
