Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham 2026

The Streets of Markham celebrate their premiere in international motorsport in 2026 and thus write a new chapter in the Canadian IndyCar calendar. Until then, the traditional street race in the greater Toronto area took place directly in downtown, but for the new season, the event moves to neighboring Markham. The city itself, originally surveyed as a township in 1793 and significantly shaped by German settler families, will experience a race of this magnitude on its own streets for the first time.

The move from Toronto to Markham marks an organizational fresh start. The City of Markham officially announced the event and positioned it as one of the most significant motorsport experiences in North America, being held in the region for the first time. Under the name Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham, the racing weekend takes place from August 14-16, 2026 and is firmly integrated into the NTT IndyCar Series calendar.

The newly laid street course measures 3.52 kilometers and takes drivers through twelve turns across the heart of Markham. Particularly striking is an extended hairpin turn designed to provide additional passing opportunities, as well as a dual-sided pit lane—a layout detail that sparked discussion in the IndyCar paddock. The track design was deliberately shaped to provide a challenging terrain for drivers while creating improved sightlines for spectators along the course.

Since this is the first running at this venue, naturally there is no winner history in the IndyCar Series itself. All the more remarkable is that the track hosts a historic race right from the start: as part of its debut, Markham will also host the 400th race in Indy Lights history—a milestone that secures the new circuit a special place in the motorsport calendar from the very beginning.

For drivers, the new track means one thing above all: completely uncharted territory. Without historical data or experience values, all teams must first acclimate to the layout, the asphalt surface, and the characteristic bumps in the rear section of the track, which have already been mentioned as a challenge in initial descriptions. Markham thus enters the IndyCar world as a fresh, untapped venue and is sure to create compelling storylines already at its debut.
