Phil Hanson

Phil Hanson was born in 1999 in Great Britain and, like many British racing drivers, came to motorsport through karting. His talent showed early in kart racing, which paved the way for him to enter formula junior series and laid the foundation for his later career in endurance racing.

After his first experiences in formula junior classes, Hanson switched to prototype racing and found his sporting home in the LMP2 category. There he gained valuable experience against established competition and established himself within just a few years as one of the most consistent young drivers of his generation, which ultimately enabled him to make the jump to the FIA WEC.

Hanson achieved the biggest success of his career in 2020, when he won both the driver title in the LMP2 class of the FIA WEC and the title in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in the same category.
