Stoffel Vandoorne

Stoffel Vandoorne was born on March 26, 1992, in Kortrijk, Belgium, and began his motorsport career like many later Formula 1 and endurance racing drivers in kart racing. His talent was evident early on, and the transition to formula series followed logically: through various junior categories, he worked his way up step by step, gaining experience in competitive fields and building a reputation as a technically proficient, consistently fast driver.

Vandoorne’s big breakthrough came in 2015 when he won the GP2 Series, then the most important feeder series to Formula 1. This title opened the door to Grand Prix racing, where he subsequently competed as a Formula 1 driver. After his time in the Formula 1 cockpit, his career took a new direction, leading him to Formula E, where he established himself as one of the strongest drivers in the field.

In Formula E, Vandoorne achieved his biggest success to date in 2022, winning the drivers’ championship. This underscored that he can compete for titles not only in traditional formula racing but also in modern, technology-driven racing series. In parallel, he expanded his portfolio with outings in the GT3 category and in the FIA WEC, where he continued to prove his versatility as a driver across different vehicle concepts and regulations.

In the 2026 season, Stoffel Vandoorne will compete for his current team in the FIA WEC. With his experience from GP2, Formula 1, and Formula E, he brings a broad range of competencies to the endurance racing scene that makes him a sought-after driver in close championship battles. The goal for the upcoming season is to build on previous successes and establish himself permanently in the top group of the FIA WEC, both in the drivers’ standings and in the battle for class and overall victories in the major endurance racing classics.
