Eric Powell was born in Bristol and grew up in a family deeply devoted to motorsport. His father operated a small karting track outside the city, and so Eric sat in a kart for the first time at the age of seven. The fascination with speed and racing tactics never let go of him, and soon he was competing in regional championships, where he had to hold his own against much older competitors.
Powell’s path through the junior series proceeded purposefully. After successful years in karting, he switched to the Formula 4 class, where he earned a seat in Formula 3 through consistent results. In parallel, he gained his first experience in GT vehicles, which enabled him to make the jump to the GT3 category. There he impressed team officials with his maturity behind the wheel, eventually earning his entry into the FIA WEC, where he has since been listed as a works driver.
Among the greatest achievements of his career to date is the class win at a major endurance race in 2022, which he celebrated with his GT3 team at the time. A year later, in 2023, he achieved a podium finish with his WEC team in the LMGT3 standings, which solidified his position in the driver roster. These results underscored his reputation as a reliable and quick pilot who delivers consistent lap times even under pressure.
In the 2026 season, Eric Powell continues to compete for his established WEC team, this time alongside a new teammate with whom he has already gelled well in the previous season. The stated goal for the upcoming campaign is a consistent presence in the top points positions as well as another podium success at one of the classics on the calendar. Powell himself emphasizes that he is particularly focused on the further development of the car package and close collaboration with the engineers in order to be able to compete for overall victories in the long term.
