Petru Umbrărescu

Petru Umbrărescu grew up with motorsports practically from childhood and found his passion for racing through karting. His Romanian roots shaped his career path, as his talent on the racetrack became apparent early on, where he gained his first racing experience and proved himself ready for junior racing series.

After his successful karting years, Umbrărescu’s path led consistently through the relevant junior motorsport formats. Through various stops in GT3 and Formula categories, he continuously developed his driving skills before eventually making the jump to the FIA WEC, where he established himself in international endurance racing.

The highlight of his career so far is winning the WEC drivers’ championship in 2025. With this title, Umbrărescu underscored his class in endurance racing and positioned himself as one of the names in the scene known for consistent top performances. The title serves as the reference point of his racing career and shows that he has established himself permanently at the top of the WEC.

In the 2026 season, Petru Umbrărescu will compete once again in the FIA WEC with the clear ambition to build on the success of the previous year and defend his title. As the reigning drivers’ world champion, he enters the new season with great confidence and wants to prove that the 2025 success was not a one-off but the beginning of a new successful era in his career.
