Lars Kern was born in 1992 in Stuttgart and grew up in a family that had always been close to motorsport. He sat in a kart for the first time as a child, and what initially began as a leisure activity quickly developed into a serious passion. On the region’s race tracks, he gathered his first racing experience, learned racecraft from the ground up, and caught attention early on for his feel for the limit.
His path upward led through the classic junior series. Kern progressed through various formula racing series before making the leap into GT3 racing, where he had to prove himself against established competition in strong manufacturer grids. His consistent performances and his technical understanding of vehicle setup ultimately opened the door for him to the FIA WEC, the World Endurance Championship, where he is today counted among the experienced drivers on his team.
Among the greatest successes of his career so far are his work in various GT3 programs, in which he established himself as a reliable and fast driver, as well as his entry into the FIA WEC, with which he achieved the leap to the top of international endurance racing. There he gathered valuable experience in top-tier teams and was able to establish himself as a regular part of the starting grid over several seasons, earning him the reputation of a robust and consistent racing driver.
In the 2026 season, Lars Kern is competing in the FIA WEC again, this time as part of an ambitious team that aims to establish itself in the upper regions of the field during the current season. Alongside his teammate, Kern is banking on continuity and the experience gathered over the past years to consistently score points both in individual races and throughout the entire season. The goal is to work further up the overall standings and deliver important results for the team.
