Renger van der Zande

Renger van der Zande grew up in the Netherlands and, like many drivers of his generation, came to motorsport through karting. His talent became evident early on in direct comparison with his peers, and the transition to the first formula series followed logically. Over several years he gained experience there before increasingly turning his attention to GT and prototype racing, a path many Dutch talents of his generation took.

Van der Zande’s sporting rise eventually led him to North American sports car series, where he made a name for himself as a versatile and consistent driver. The jump from formula series to GT3 and prototype vehicles required technical finesse and the ability to adapt to different vehicle concepts, qualities that have characterized his career since. This versatility later paved the way for him into the FIA WEC, where experience with different vehicle classes is a decisive advantage.

Among the greatest successes of his career to date is the championship title in the PC class of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2016. This title marked an important milestone and underscored his ability to perform consistently at the highest level in prototype-based vehicles. The success sustainably strengthened his reputation in North American sports car racing and opened doors to further engagements with competitive teams.

For the 2026 season, Renger van der Zande is competing again in the FIA WEC, aiming to build on previous successes and support his team in the fight for podium finishes and class wins. With his broad experience from formula series, GT3 programs, and prototype campaigns, he brings exactly the skill set needed in demanding endurance racing.
